Clear, sharp image quality with minimal aberrations
Convetional SLRs adopt a Gauss type lens construction for 50mm standard lenses, but Olympus adopts a new generation lens construction with an inner focus system for the digital age. The result is a quiet, fast autofocus and small sized lens. It contains 9 high-quality elements including aspherical lens elements to provide clear, sharp image from the centre to the edges without aberrations.

This compact and lightweight lens has a useful focal length (25mm (35mm equivalent focal length: 50mm) and features sharpness and soft defocusing effects that make it the perfect lens for various scenes such as portrait and still life photos.

Semi-macro shooting is possible up to a maximum image magnification of 0.12x (35mm equivalent: 0.24x) and the minimum focus distance of 25cm. The large F1.8 aperture lets you capture images with beautiful background defocusing effects. The optional macro converter (MCON-P02) changes the closest focusing distance to 17cm and the maximum image magnification to 0.22x (35mm equivalent maximum image magnification: 0.44x). It turns the lens into a semi macro lens.

ZERO Coating eliminates ghosts and flares
ZERO (Zuiko Extra-low Reflection Optical) Coating is applied to the lens surface to eliminate ghosts and flares that used to be difficult to reduce because of their high transparency. ZERO Coating boasts clear image quality even under challenging conditions such as backlit conditions.
The fast, quiet AF lets you capture the right moment
The MSC (Movie and Still Compatible) mechanism with an inner focus system enables fast, smooth, quiet and precise auto focusing. By using it together with the FAST AF system of a PEN or OM-D series camera, you can surely capture the right shot at any time. It is also suited for quiet environments and movie shooting, due to the quiet AF.

MCON-P02 Macro Converter
This converter is very useful when taking close-up shots of items such as flowers and foods. You are able to take close-up shots easily.
